Wagners It's a Bloke Thing Prostate Cancer 2019 Luncheon Series

Prostate cancer doesn’t discriminate. Each year in Australia almost 3,300 men die of prostate cancer and 20,000 new cases are diagnosed. Such a significant disease for our population, yet blokes weren’t talking about it. In 2010 after four mates were all diagnosed with prostate cancer they set about making a change – to encourage men to discuss their health and raise money for prostate cancer research.


Round Square Marketing is fortunate and proud to be able to work with these inspirational men to create a fundraising event that since its inaugural luncheon in Toowoomba in 2011 has benefited various men’s health and research programs, including the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and the Toowoomba Base Hospitals men’s health programs.


Through a targeted media and stakeholder relations campaign, the foundation was able to elevate the profile of the event to achieve an amazing $1.2 million in donated funds in 2014. The event has attracted keynote speeches from high profile personalities including Mick Doohan (500cc Moto GP Champion), Grant Williams (A Current Affair executive producer), Ray Meagher (actor of Home and Away) and Professor Ian Frazer (CEO and Director of Research at the Translational Research Institute).


With the event now firmly on the community’s – and the nation’s – radar the annual Wagners It’s a Bloke Thing luncheon is expected to surpass each year's previous fundraising total and further raise the profile of its charity partners. Tables are always sold out ahead of the event and a highly anticipated line-up of keynote speakers and entertainers to inspire and entertain guests are announced each year.

We have worked with Lauren Hope (Director, Round Square Marketing) for a number of years, across many projects including the It’s a Bloke Thing Foundation fundraising luncheons. During this time, I have been impressed with her drive to grow her business, striving towards developing networks and impeccable customer service which has seen her steadily expand her customer base in a few short years.


Lauren holds a strong passion for and is very loyal to the Toowoomba and Darling Downs community, being involved with events and marketing for both not for profit events and businesses. She is interested in increasing community awareness, not only through her marketing but also in education in events, for example the ‘It’s a Bloke Thing” charity event and men’s health education programs.
