Shopify and MailChimp have broken up and it has caused a big upset for many e-commerce stores.
If you have a Shopify store and use MailChimp, then you’ll need to review your options as this integration will no longer work.
Before you make a decision about your next move, it is helpful to conduct a review of what exactly you are using your email marketing platform for and what you want to with it in the future.
When it comes to integrating an e-commerce store and email marketing, there are many automations you may be using.
- - Sign up forms to your 'newsletter'
- - Maintaining a customer database
- - Abandoned cart
- - Post-purchase follow up
- - Re-engaging previous customers through re-marketing
The good news is all of the above is still possible with the right setup. Once you know what you need to achieve with your email system, then you have a decision to make.
Just because MailChimp and Shopify will no longer have a direct integration that doesn’t mean that you can’t still connect them.
If you want to maintain all your existing automations within MailChimp, that will be possible using a third-party integrator.
On the other hand, the integration with Shopify was one of the key selling points for MailChimp. If this is no longer available and you don’t want to deal with a third-party application then this may be the time to make the switch to another email provider.
The options in the marketplace have increased considerably in the past couple of years. Third-party apps such as Omnisend, ActiveCampaign and Klavyio are a number of platforms offering similar services.
