Now is not the time to stop your social and undo all of your hard work

With the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen many businesses having to shut their doors and cease trading. A very unfortunate time for all that are affected.
Now if you’re a business owner, you might think that because you are no longer trading – there is no need to keep up your social media presence… This is NOT the case. Users are more likely to be checking into social media channels MUCH more frequently than average given the current climate, meaning this is *not* the time to press pause. This will undo all of your hard work, and we don’t want that! 🤭
Let’s say you’re posting organic content to your social media channels four times a week, your followers would be used to seeing your posts come up in their feed regularly. Then all of a sudden you stop. POOF! Gone. Your followers are no longer liking, commenting or seeing your posts - meaning they disengage with your page. Your business is no longer top of mind
Not only will clients forget you but so will the algorithm #byefelicia👋– meaning that when you do recommence you will have some work to do to show up in newsfeeds (recency of posting is one of the key factors of the algorithm when determining if they will serve your content to a wider audience).
Our tip to you – don’t stop! Keep posting, even if it’s only three times a week (we would also suggest some paid campaigns). Maintain this baseline so that when you do return to the market… they remember who you are and why you’re here. 🙌
So, what do you post about if you’re no longer trading? Now is the perfect time to try some new content types – get creative! Here are 7 post ideas to get you started: 
  1. About your business – background on how and why your business was established, what services you offer and what your point of difference is.
  2. Meet the team – now is the perfect time to humanise your brand. Incorporate some meet the team posts into your social media so consumers can get to know the faces behind your brand. They are more likely to support your business if they can see the real people working behind the scenes.
  3. Educational posts – if you’re anything like us, you love to read posts that are educating you. Try to incorporate some that are relevant to your business into your schedule. 
  4. Local business shout out – know a local business that has adapted during this time? Share the love and give them a shout out.
  5. Memes – let’s be real, everybody loves a good meme!
  6. 5 top tips for XX – work in the beauty industry? Why not offer your 5 top tips for maintaining your skincare routine while in isolation? Share some tips relevant to your industry – trust us, your followers will appreciate it! If you’re a product-based business, you could even include some sneaky products that you would recommend and direct them to your website.
  7. Engage! If you’ve got some spare time up your sleeve, now is the perfect time to grow your following. Do this by engaging with the community, whether this be liking, commenting or even sharing their posts!
